Jessica grew up in New Jersey and moved to Toronto in 2016.
Currently, Jessica serves as the Executive Director of the Leacock Foundation, a children's charity focused on empowering children and youth to develop the critical and creative thinking skills to be confident leaders. Prior to moving to Toronto, she worked in a variety of roles, including the Founding Principal of a middle school, for the New York City Department of Education.
In 2020-2022, she served on the Junior League of Toronto Board as President Elect and President. She has engaged in a number of volunteer opportunities, including CAMH on the Early Psychosis Unit, Covenant House, FORA, among other commitments.
She pursued a B.S. in Journalism at the University of Colorado - Boulder. When she joined Teach for America as a Grade 5 teacher in New York City, she instantly knew that education would be her life passion. To further her learning in education, she completed an M.S. in Teaching at Fordham University and M.Ed. in Education Leadership at Teachers College - Columbia University. In 2014, she earned her Doctorate in Education in Administration K-12 at Seton Hall University.
During her spare time, she enjoys traveling and hiking with her husband and two girls. She believes that reading opens our minds and imagination to endless possibilities. She values giving back to a variety of communities through volunteering.
Emma's courage inspired Jessica to be part of Emma IS. It is important to be an active community leader in ensuring that we advocate for children's lives and health through advocacy and research. After learning about Infantile Spasms from Monica, she was interested in joining the movement to push for early diagnosis and treatment to help ensure that children have an opportunity for the proper treatment.
